X number of posts before a certain forum is visible

is there any mod that allows you to set up a certain category, forum or subforum on your site that requires you to make a certain number of posts to other forums/subforums before that forum is viewable? I could use the User promotions if necessary, but don't want to have to create a new usergroup if I don't have to.
