Test Forum 3.6.7

I'm running version 3.6.7 and about to update to 3.6.8. Not having installed or upgraded vB before, I need to get the confidence but thought that I would in the first instance install 3.6.8 into a test folder on the licenced domain, sort out the few styles and graphics etc before going live. Can I do this using the existing database and just running the upgrade script from the test folder without screwing up the database?

No, you should also make a copy of your database and use that in the config.php of your testboard. Otherwise you would be upgrading your production database.
