If you take a look at http://www.xbox-corner.com/ i want to add menus either side where the gray space is but every time i try it breaks the tables or something or other, i know its something simple but i think its quicker for me to ask.

do you mean for all pages or just for specific pages if for all pages you may want to search for the ultimate side colums hack by kerry-anne, there's also a vertical site navigation hack by kerry-anne too.

if it's for a specific page there's hack called side column left for forumhome and you can manually place it on the pages you'd like it to show on.

a little more info on what you'd like it to do would be nice
