For me, mod = just templates modifications, and hack is a mod who use a product system.

Both of them are the same IMO.

However, the term "Add-on" refers to adding something to vBulletin, rather than modifying something. |

I tend to use "modification" over "hacks" now, as vBulletin doesn't need "hacking" like in the old days.

I still remember people saying "My board is hacked to bits." .

I'd consider what i'm doing as hacks (snippets here and there, little edits willy nilly) as it feels like I'm in a dark jungle hacking away at dense, confusing vundergrowth trying to get to an oasis more by luck than design whereas the packaged modifications on here are like a modern, well travelled and signposted highway.

As far as vb.org is concerned, there is no difference. We simply started to use modifications rather than hacks because the term hack now has negative associations. I probably use hack more than I use mod/modification. |

I still use the term "hack", as it is what I am used to when I first joined up.
