Did I screw up, or what?
Well I configured everything on my dev. server and was getting ready to start uploading and it dawned upon me that it "ain't gonna work"
Here's the delima... I installed configured... patched templates... ad nauseaum for drupal, vbdrupal, mediawiki & vbwiki, everything is ready to move to the production server. Since vB has a current dbase that doesn't include any of these systems if I export and import the current 4 apps. OR If I go in the other direction, I'd be moving vB dbase back to some way earlier version. Now all I can think of is to move all the new stuff and redo everything manually. A whole bunch of work. Anyway I can just update vB database to current on the dev server w/o trashing all the template changes, etc. and then import database and upload all s/w, overwriting what's there now. Dumb... dumb... dumb... Any help would be appreciated. |

When I work on my dev site, I keep a list of all that I do. Then, when I go to 'move' the dev site to the production site, I export the templates from my dev site, close my real site, make a copy of the real site database and files just in case, move over all the files from the dev site to the real site, change the config file, do the vbulletin upgrade, do any other database changes, import the templates, then see if it works.
