cookie time out not functioning with new host. why?

i had set my cookie timeout for x amount of mintues and it has always worked, but recently i changed hosts and now the cookie timeout doesn't seem to be working at all. what could the cause be?

I have not installed any hacks. It worked at my old host but now at my new host it doesnt work. what could cause this? i had it set for an hour and it seems now that it resets at 25 mintues
