I searched the forum before posting this, and actually tried a fix with hard-editing some templates.

My problem is, even though I check "no" to the "use IM icons" in the admin cp, under style settings, they still show in the user profile, update user profile, etc.

I can't have IM functionality beyond the PM system on my website. Has anyone ran into this issue before?

If you set them to no and they still show, you should post this as a bug report over at vBulletin.com.
