You could change the templates around so much to make it look like a website. After you install some hacks, you could use threads as articles and stuff. But if you wanted to do some regular forums, some article forums. Geek Article and Rating System (found at www.thevbgeek.com) is a good alternative.

Yes, you can.
vBulletin is a scalable and highly customizable software. And with a mod called : "vBAdvanced CMPS (Content Management and Portal System)" its the right choice for you. thanx. |

If you combine vbulletin with the free add-on vbadvanced.com
you have a simple cms-system. If you furthermore buy the GARS (Geek Article and Review System) from www.thevbgeek.com you suddenly have a powerful cms-system. With GARS you turn every forum into a very advanced article system that has a lot more options than a lot of dedicated cms-systems. After some reading and playing with the stuff, you can achieve this for example http://pdaphonehome.com/ The frontpage is vbadvanced, showing articles made by GARS (see here how it is done: http://www.thevbgeek.com/showthread.php?t=3329 ) But 1) Start learning vbulletin (1 day) 2) Start learning vbadvanced (1 day) 3) Buy GARS and play around with the modules (1-2 days) 4) play around with the GARS-vbadvanced module from GARS and you are flying (?-? days) depending on how much you want to achieve |
