Stopping people from stealing your content ?
I had a neat idea, i dont know how this would be implemented, cuz im not a coder..
but the VB gurus can have a shot at this ! Many of us, are sick of people stealing our links and posts from our forums and using it on theirs. Suppose i have a site mysite.com Suppose we have to post a download link... www.rapidshare.com/download111.rar On the newthread template, a link converter would be present.. The user would paste the above link into the link converter and voila ! out comes the protected link.. (Using an AJAX system) Suppose the protected link is : mysite.com/protector.php?linkid=11245 What happens in the background is, the link gets stored and mapped into the database and the user gets the protected link ( mysite.com/protector.php?linkid=11245 ) Now, when some 3rd person clicks this link mysite.com/protector.php?linkid=11245 , if the incoming hit is from the local site mysite.com the link is converted into the original link (which is mapped into the database) and the user is forwarded to the original link If, the hit comes from an external site (meaning somebody has copied ur link and posted on their forums) then the link would not be converted. EVEN BETTER !!! the link would be converted to your forum address : mysite.com Now, hows my idea, if any of you godss think this is practically possible.. please reply to this thread |

There are loads of anti-leech scripts available both for free and paid for.
look on hotscripts.com for 'leech' and then find the one you like... I doubt you're going to find anyone on here that will custom write a url rewriting mod to protect rapidshare links... You'll be better off asking on rent-a-coder or some other place where there'll be 'experienced' fxp mod'ers who you can pay to do stuff like that. Or, you can host everything on your box and use subscriptions/download manager to protect 'your content'. |

actually, the web is free... if you do not want your content being leeched, jut close your site.
no matter the technique you will apply on your site to stop leeching, there will be people with tweaks to oevercome your technique. |

There nothing you can do about people stealing your content.
However, you can attempt to sue them =] |

The Refcontrol addon for Firefox would get around that easily. Interesting idea though.

Do you really think they'll be able to steal content?
Ever thought about "View Source" or better yet, screenshots? Trust me, it's impossible. |
