adding main catergories etc.

so i know i have done this before but its not working....
how do i set up the main catergory for a section and then the subjects for each thread as in

If i want my main section to be called
Main Drag
and then i have several different threads in this area like annoucements,
questions, stuff like that? am i explaining well enough?

You're probably forgetting about the "Parent Forum" field. Create a new forum (Forums & Moderators > Add New Forum) and if you want it to be a main forum, don't set a parent forum (I turn off "act as Forums" on my main forums).

Then for sub-forums of that main, create another forums but set the main forums as the parent. Set the display order and you are set.
