newpost_complete hook -> duplicate post error?

so I'm adding a plugin to the newpost_complete hook that moves a thread to a different forum upon a reply.

the code is like so

It generates the "this is a duplicate post" message and doesn't do anything. Any ideas? I tried just a straight up query instead of using the $thread but it still gives the dupe error.

my bad.. looks like I was owned by syntax. I just wasn't seeing the error on quick reply. Works as designed now
