Are content blocks a standard component of vB ?
Try to choose a suitable commercial (read:stable) forum product and vBulletin is on my short list.
I have seen some sites with content blocks (table cells) to the right or left of the forum list and I need to know if these are a standard component or add-on or if someone has modded vB to achieve this ? Like the blocks on the lhs of this site http://www.vbulletin.com/ and on some other sites which use them for ads. Assuming they are part of vB are there any resrictions on what you can do with them? For example could you put some code in there to display an RSS feed from another site? Thanks, kevin |

I think you're talking about a portal. It is not a standard feature, but many have been made and released. I suggest vBAdvanced, it's free.

I guess so, yes.
vBAdvanced looks very established. Are there any other portal add-ons which I should know about ? (commercial is okay, because I am interested in a formal product support service). Thanks, kevin |

Not really, vBAdvanced should suffice for your needs.

Thanks. For this.
I've pretty much decided to go with vB and one of the add-ons listed above. However, I notice that a new version of vB is due to be released tomorrow. Will these add-ons need to catch up with vB 3.6.6 or is it likely to be backward compatible ? |

if you choosed vbAdvanced as your CMPS, Brian is already updating if necessary... not all the products related to vBulletin need updates when a release comes... it all depend on the way the product was built...
