Make PayPal active (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/paymentapi) and add a paid subscription (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/subscriptions_add) where you can set Usergroup Options accordingly.

the GeekMart is doing exactly what you require... contact The Geek if you want the beta script.. it is working nickel on any version of vB 3.5.x and 3.6.x ... or do what Calorie is telling you, it is a existing feature on vB... subscriptions !!! |

You can set up a subscription so that person X gets usergroup Y permissions after payment. If usergroup Y can A, B, C, then that is what person X gets upon payment. You can also set up multiple subscriptions, so that if person X pays U, s/he gets usergroup A permissions, if person X pays V, s/he gets B permissions, etcetera. As for the 'pay to post' hack, that is a vB 3.5.4 hack (made it but never used it) so the best thing is to set up a test board and try it.
