Can I resize the avatar in my welcome panel?

Im using this code in my navbar

<td class="alt1"><a href="$vboptions[bburl]/profile.php?do=editavatar">$navbaravatar</a></td>

To just post the users avatar in the navbar, but I would like to shrink the avatar to lets say 50% of the normal size of 100x100 so 50x50 JUST in the navbar not on forum threads etc.. How can this be done??

I have seen it before but cant find the answer.
