Default Editing Post Titles

Hi guys

I have seen this posted before however it is never posisble to find it again by searching so I am posting the question again. Also even in the past I have not been provided any solution.

Problem: Someone has a typo in the title of a post.
Admin: I go in an edit the post title.
Result: The actual post title when viewing the thread is updated.

Continuous Problem: The post title on the homepage of the board for the most recent post column and also in the post title for my RSS feed remain unchanged.

I have run all admin features to update post counts, title etc. but this makes no difference.

This must be a very common issue and so the answer should be very simple. However I still don't have it.

Hoping someone can clearly explain the way to resolve this,

thanks

Post title and thread title are 2 different things.

When a new thread is created, it gets the title of the first post. If you want to change the thread title, go to Thread Tools -> Edit Thread.

This is clear. The issue is that this updates it on the list of topics, but NOT on the homepage of a forum, in the colums that lists the most recent postings and the member who posted it. In that column it remains in the unedited way!!! Are you saying you have to do this via the admin? This would be rather annoying. Can you make the Thread title and post title appear in the eidt post screen if you are an admin?

Also I am running 3.6.5 but in admin I cannot find "Thread Tools -> Edit Thread." Can you please be more specific. Actually I have now found it in the thread tool drop down above the post. Are you aware of a hack that adds this field at the top of the moderation of the thread via the edit button. This would permit the admin person to so it all in the one place?

thanks again for the assistance

If you edit the title using the Edit Thread option, then it should be changed on forumhome and forumdisplay also.

I just mean, rather than having to edit the post title and the thread title (which are created from the one field by the poster) in two places, why not make it all in the one place, i.e. in the form that comes up when one clicks on "Edit" at the bottom of the post. Currently you have to so this in the Edit way for the post title and then again using the thread tools for the thread title. As they are the same on the first posting, why not add this as an additional field (viewable to admin and mods) at the top of the edit a post form?

Does this make more sense?
