Guest and pending to see very little for private site

I have permissions set for all of my forums, but guests can still see the "What's going on box" which includes the forum stats.

This is a private site so I would like them to just see the sign in link, faq, and the basic Welcome screen.

Can this be done with basis vbulletin settings, a plug in, or do I have to learn to code this? Looking for the path of least resistance here.
