Mass / Bulk import of events

I am trying to create a CSV which I can import into the event table in the database so that I can add events in bulk rather than one by one.

Are there any tools to do it?

I have put together an excel, but I don't know how to get excel to change the date format of
28/01/2007
into the dateline format in the database
e.g. 1171670038

If someone can either point me towards a tool, or indeed help me change my dates from the standard format to that needed for the database I would be most thankful!
