create new variable?

Hi, I want to create two different types of navbars.

Now, when i in a template write $navbar the Navbar template will be printed right?

I want to make some changes in $nabvar but i still want to have the default on some places.

So i want to create the variable $nabvar2 that shell print out the content in my costume template navbar2. How do i do this?

How big are the changes you are talking about? Just adding new links, or something more major?
