i.e.
Say a member has a team that they play games with. They are able to create a forum for their team, that only members they give access to can see. (Admins could still see the created forums though of course) Is there anything even similiar to this? |

Just bumping to see if anything like this has been done. I still haven't seen any, but wanted to ask.

i believe i saw something similar but haven't been able to locate it here. i recall that the users were given a lot of administrative permission to do such things though, which should be avoidable IMO.

Theres a FABTASTIC one for IPB called Member Teams, and I also am looking for one for vB. It can be set to allow a user to create a team upon earning a certain post count OR point balance. The IPb version is here http://compguy11.net/index.php?showforum=37 so any fabby coders out there wanna get their hands dirty, I know I would appreciate it.
The only other version that I'm aware of for vB is GPSGroups or something... but it is not very controlable at all. It got the install click about a minute after I realised :S |

There was an old hack called vbHosting which was exactly doing this.
It was realy great and I would love to have it for 3.6 but it was forbidden and never updated anymore. If I remember correctly its against the license agreement if users can create forums with own subforums and groups etc. ![]() What you can do is create a forum for them and give a public group access to the forum. Make one of the users usergroupleader and they can decide who has access and who not on their own. What the cannot do is create additional forums or subforums. |
