Getting an Error Trying To Use vB Calls from Drupal

Hello,

I'm in the process of converting my site to Drupal, and I'm finding that my old Comment on This Article (x Comments) hack isn't working when I try to include it as I do on my normal old php pages.

When I do the following:

PHP Code:

    chdir($_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]."/forums/");
  require_once($_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]."/forums/global.php"); 


I get "Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in <snip>/forums/includes/functions.php on line 1041"I realize this might require specialized knowledge of Drupal, but I'm not sure what kind of environment this the global.php needs to be called from in order to work properly.

Any ideas or help much appreciated.

I have--only I don't need that kind of integration. I only have a few users who are going to be adding content, so it isn't a problem to have a separate database.
