I need help adding an image.

I am going to be making a mod, where the posbit will be completely changed.
One thing I haven't done is worked with images, and now I will be doing so. I need some one to tell me how to add a php code, such as the vBulletin user name

Code:

$username

So the image will display the user name in a specific field. Thanks guys!
