Is there such a thing? (template question)

Is there anything in which you can edit a template but if you want to add a new skin just copy and paste some of the code so yuo don't have to redo the lot once you add a new skin?

I have just installed a new VB 3.6.1 and I want to add a skin but I am worried that if I redo all the mods something might be wrong but I will try and do it offline before I upload it, might make things a little easier.
