Thread submission template and controls +
These questions pertain to what would be a classified section of a forum...
1) I an auto related forum, I would like to use vB because I, and many others, find that asking questions and getting answers that can be viewed by all interested is very beneficial. However, I would like the original thread submissions to be form field validated so that all required information is present before a thread is submitted. Can this be accomplished? 2) In order to eliminate bumping of threads, is it possible for the threads to be displayed only by the order of the original submission date? 3) I would like for users to be able to edit a thread's original post submission in order to insert a new (reduced) price, yet not be able to edit or delete the original price. Possible? Additionally, I would like the user to be able to edit (add only) his comments/additional info field. Possible? I realize that as vB comes in the 'out of the box' configuration, it's not possible to accomplish most, if not all, of what I am asking. But the ad software I have seen can't allow for the forum format that vB has, nor have I seen any hacks. If there are any that I am not aware of, let me know. Otherwise, I'm all ears for advise. |

All of the things you want are not possible with standard Bulletin Board software. The nature of bulletin boards is that they are used to post free text messages.
With vBulletin it would however not be so difficult to write a modification that can do what you want and make it plugged into vBulletin easily. |
