Hide Forums from Index but Show in Search

Is there a hack to do this:

1. Hide the forums from the main forum index (only accessible via url)

2. Show forums on forum jump and in Search in Forum(s) of advanced search page.

I guess I can't use the settings to accomplish this as the "forum is active" command turns all 3 locations off.
