How much to pay designer?

I've made a service request for a new site header and logo, I have had a couple of quotes now, although just thought I'd ask what the going rate it is for one as I've never paid for graphics work before. I'm not going to name names and how much they have quoted.

Plus is there any one that you would reccomend to work with?

It really depends on how complex. I've seen logo-based design work go fairly cheap ($50-$200) and I've seen it on the more expensive side ($400-$$$). It would depend on experience and past work.

If the logo comes only in PSD format, is too small to resize or there are a great deal of limitations with the work, then $25-$50 sounds about right. If you, however, need the logo for paper, business cards, shirts and other such items, then be prepared to pay a little more.

Again, generally, experience is a key factor. Do you have any example logos you like? I could probably give you a general range then.

the pictures attached are carp fishing magazine that i moderates logo, does'nt resemble anything fishy related and thats fine.

we're not looking for a copy of this but just a example of a modern logo without using the fishy parts. we feel our name alone will reconize us as a carp fishing site.

We are just looking for something modern, we also don't think it has to be over fishy related, it may not even have any fishy look at all.

if we can get a really good logo then we maybe able to pass on having the header work as I would just make the header a graidient then attach the logo.

Rather simple in style, so you probably aren't looking at spending too much. My estimate for an average pricing range would be $20-$30. This estimate is based off the logo provided, which doesn't appear to be a vector-based logo and doesn't have an actual identity-forming aspest to it.
