Not really too difficult. If you want to keep it running while moving it, you have to plan for a few things, but nothing major. Just comes down to backing up the database re-installing vb on the new server then uploading the database to the new new server. At that point redirect dns, and if you want forward your old server to point to the new one while DNS propogates.

That is a quick overview, but is the gist of it.

Refer to vBulletin's Official Documentation on Transferring Servers.

Depending on what kind of server you're on and what kind you're moving to -- either Shell/SSH or phpMyAdmin.

I wasn't aware Dreamweaver had a phpMyAdmin backup feature. You'd probably be better off just downloading it direct from phpMyAdmin through your cPanel or Plesk or whatever.

Yeah, then you can just reupload when you switch. You might also be able to give the backup to your new host and when they setup your account, they should be able to restore it for you.

What directory did you put the vBulletin files into... because it sure isn't the main one...

Also did you edit your config.php file to work with the new database?
