Thing that cause SLOW THREAD loading..

I've been getting complaints about LONG THREADS freezing browsers and taking long time to load.

I know I have to eventually go one-by-one through my hacks to figure it out...but if I was to start a forum from scratch (like with an upgraded to 3.6 when it goes gold? )


1. what are the primary suspect hacks that would cause BROWSERS to freeze before loading a thread?

this is a clip of one of the complaints:

Freezes browser just before loading large thread for about 5-10 seconds, at which point loads large thread, and freezes for another couple seconds.

(confirmed across multiple browsers and computers: THREAD GOES BLANK for a few seconds before splitting out the thread).

2. what hacks would cause long threads to load slower in general?
