Users awaiting email confirmation

I have a strange problem with 3.5.4 at the moment where previously registered users that have been visiting the site for a while suddenly end up back in the users awaiting activation usergroup and they cannot post. I have the email confirmation option enabled and it seems to work fine for the test users I create but I am at a loss as to why registered users end up back in here?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if anyone knows how to resolve it.

maybe that they didnt active the account?

and i think that this will help u go to:
Scheduled Tasks ->Activation Reminder Email -> and then press on go -> then set the minutes like this (0-0-0-1) and you will see a check box with this title (Log Entries) tick on yes and this will make these things:
when a member regeister and regeistration completed it will send him the activation and he will check his mail and activate his account but i prefer that you should remove the activation i think that this is better i dont like this but its up to you i have tried this and it works with me.

My post is not about new registrations. The situation I have is that users that register, activate and then happily post on the site for a period of time suddenly end up in the "Users awaiting activation" usergroup. This is normally brough to our attention when the user sends an email to say they can no longer post.
