Now that i'm back - My feedback

Now that I'm back from my wonderful week of being banned from this place, maybe i can talk

For those of my customers or hack users who will read this, sorry if i was not able to give much support this week here on vb.org due to my being banned, providing you all with a link to the premium version as asked plenty of times, cause my ban. Yes, the rules say we can provide the link if we have a light version, but what can i do right? Anyways, i am not here to question my ban or anything, what's done is done.

My feedback on this place is quite simple and probably the same as most people here. Organization is a key missing factor here, amongst communication between staff.

A while ago Livewire posted a thread saying he's had enough. Quite frankly, i have had enough as well. Nothing has changed since his thread, including opinions. Slowly but surely, coders are all leaving, i think we can go days now without having new posts. Does this say something? It should.

Also, like Livewire, i have also experienced a lot of heat from staff and have seen others experience it as well. If anyone in the staff has a problem with me, so be it. I am not here to make friends with staff. I come here to offer my services and possibly learn new things every now and then.

Which brings me to the next topic, this is normally the part where i tell you that i will not be releasing any more hacks and to pull my existing hacks. However, i have thought this out. I do not post hacks for vb.org or the staff, i post them for the members here who do actually appreciate coder's contributions and for customers. I will not stop helping people out around here and i will not servicing customers i have here. However, for every post i make or every contribution i make, once again, none of it is for vb.org. Which is why i have no problem leaving my contributions here.



Want to see the difference between the staff we have here and the opinions of members? Lets quote:

The opinion of the staff:
No need to quote, it is clear that the staff just believes (at least i think so) that coders come and go, so no need to try and hold on to the ones we have to make sure that the coder ration multiplies, as oppose to getting smaller or staying the same.


A hack database was promised, and a commercial directory i believe was spoken about to, i guess we've all lost hope on this? However, if it does come i'm sure a lot of people will be surprised As for the commercial directory, we now see that it's not only the coders who want it, but the members who would like it as a resource.

The atmosphere here two years ago was the greatest, but it's understood that times change. However, that doesn't mean that the atmosphere is what needs to change, perhaps changes for the better shall be made

Oh, and perhaps i will get more heat by the staff or something for this post, but it's expected. Maybe surprise me and lets just be civil?

I will for now only give you the following reaction:
- If you are mentioning the reason for your ban, then please be complete: You where banned because you abused the Send Update Email to promote your commercial version. That is clearly against the rules, and you are warned against it on the page that is used to send an Update mail. It was also not your first offence.
- New ways of storing, searching & handling modifications will still be done. Just don't expect it to be done over night. As it looks like now major changes for the way modifications are handled will not be ready for at least 2 or 3 more months.
- Commercial Directory is also still in the planning and it is even been worked on at the moment. You can expect that probably in about 1-2 months time when we make the move to vB3.6.

I am glad you have shown yourself to be mature enough to retain your modifications here on this site for the use of the general public

As for your queries about the hack database, no need to go further with that; Marco has already given estimates of completion for when this site goes to 3.6

And for what it's worth, I don't believe that is the opinion of the staff; It may be the opinion of individuals but I know that as a Staff member, that is not my opinion; Perhaps part of the entire grand scheme of problems is that all Staff are generalised as one entity instead of the inviduals that they are?

As a Staff member, and previously as a Community member, when something goes wrong, it is "The Staff" that get blamed for it, as a whole; We are individuals, we make mistakes, and it's this attitude of blaming "The Staff" for everything that also needs to change

1) I mentioned that i do not wish to question my ban Marco. However, yes, it was my first "offence". And if i had others, i was not warned. And yes, i said i including a link, and it was in the update feature. However, no promotional language was used sir, i wasn't promoting anything, just doing exactly what i said i was doing in the first post. But again, i am not arguing that.

2) Glad to hear it. Will this be standalone or integrated to threads?

3) Great. How integrated with vb.org will it be, will it be so that it is made obvious that it exists and such, or will it just be a link somewhere?

It is in one's nature to blame i suppose. And yes, the staff is only made up of regular individuals, i'm sure the community (all being admins) know this I think when people address the staff, as the staff, they just mean it as the majority. The same way i will refer to the "members" as the majority.

Can you clarify a bit further here? Do you mean communications between staff and members, or something else?

Well it would be hard to judge communication between staff if one is not apart of the staff here.

Regarding the communication between staff and members, can you suggest anything to improve it? Can you mention any specific problems when you could't communicate with the staff?

Perhaps they do mean it as the majority, but generalisation isn't always accurate or fair:cross-eyed:
