Installing Hacks 101

Installing most hacks will not require any knowledge of PHP or MySQL. They will require patience, and time. You don't want to rush things.

1. Download the hack.

2. Follow the instructions included. Most come with good instructions that enable you to install easily. Make sure you do this in the order specified and how things are explicitly laid out.

3. I recommend installing hacks on a test copy of your forums. This can be as simple as copying the vBulletin files to another directory and pointing them to the same database or as complex as a separate installation.

Note on CHMOD:
Whether or not you have to CHMOD your files is dependant on your Host. Most run PHP as a module so you do not have to do this but some do. If you try to run something and get a 500 error then most likely you need to CHMOD it. Ask your host for assistance here.
