Default A Clubbing Site - Heavily Modified

Hey,

i thought i would share my site with anyone that is interested.
The site is www.MelbourneUnderage.com
We started around 6 years ago, from a basic html site with html forums, 1.5 years later moving to phpBB, and around 2 years ago moving to vB.

We have spent a lot of time working on our site, and have modified a lot of things to suit what i personally think would be nicer.
- header changed
- nav menu dramatically changed to allow for the rest of the content on our site.
- add an 'alternative header system' (currently being worked on), to allow different images, set whenever we want to be changed (via date). [MOD WILL BE RELEASED SOON]
- whole site and forum runs through the CMPS, to display the necessary modules.

(- lots of little changes have been done)
- changed the registration system to make easier - with more revisions soon.
- member profile changed visually

- TOTALLY changed the event listing on the calendar
- added a lot of difference when added an event aswell.

- vbAdvanced / PhotPost Gallery
- totally changed the category layout
- added some little visual fixes throughout page

----
Some of the largest changes i haven't spoken about yet, is what is running on the system.
We have created a multiple site hack [MOD TO BE RELEASED SOON]. we are still working our a lot of the problems, but overall, the system is there due to the way vB was created (i applaud the vB guys).

the best way to explain this is
www.MelbourneUnderage.com
www.MelbourneOverage.com
they are both running from the same set of files and same database.

the system checks what domain you have come to, and then:
- places you into the right usergroup (some of the usergroups have been duplicated for each site - guests / registered / mods, the rest can work across all sites).
- gives you the right permissions to access and view each part.
- display the right template style (set per domain)

we have created a few mods to fix other problems, including:
- upcoming events module for CMPS - now is permissions based, and will show all calendars a user has permission to see [MOD TO BE RELEASED SOON]
- calendar custom fields is now useable on multiple calendars, with an easy "input calendar id box" [MOD TO BE RELEASED SOON]
- events can now be added to multiple calendars when entering the event (tick boxes) [MOD TO BE RELEASED SOON]
- events can now be edited by multiple users, and the original user can be removed and replaced. [MOD TO BE RELEASED SOON]
- the calendar module CMPS has be fixed to work off userpermissions aswell. [MOD TO BE RELEASED SOON]
- display the right style id to user [just added through plugin - will release with the multisite hack]

# coming soon:
- totally changing the event moderation page to be more visual
- show events added by user on user's profile
- event listing - ability to link events together, and show on 'old events' table row on event listing.
- fix event comments
- remove the

if anyone has questions, please ask. i know i have changed a lot more through the site, i just can't think of any others.
the multi site hack allows me to run multiple vB forums through the one set, greatly decreasing complexities like updating the sites, changing some minute visual template across all the sites, and ability to release news to all the sites.

I tried to view your site but that adclick popup window obscured the whole page.

What concerns me, though, is this:

Wouldn't that violate your vB license agreement?

If he only has 1 license, which I assume thats the case, then yes that would be a violation of the license agreement.

Quote:
vBulletin licence grants you the right to run one instance (a single installation) of the Software on one web server and one web site for each licence purchased. Each licence may power one instance of the Software on one domain. For each installed instance of the Software, a separate licence is required. Modifications to the software or database to circumvent the one-license-one-board rule are prohibited.

Unless I am mistaken by that statement... Would not be the first time I have been wrong.

yes, you do need multiple licenses to run multiple forums - i ask this months ago on both sites, and got the word from the top guys.
i've spent the last few weeks testing the whole system, and now am at the stage where we are happy that around 95% of what we wanted can be done.
Now, i'm about to buy another 3 licences, with at least another 4 licences within the next two months.

It's the same forum and same content, i believe this is allowed actually because i have seen something even here to help members do this. Good job by the way.

not quite - as the only difference between running paying for two licenses and running two seperate forums, even though they are about the same thing - just targetting different audiences (either age or city), is that my hack allows you to manage it a lot better.
So in fact, it's making it easier for a few people who are doing something very similar to me, to handle their system, and save them overall time.

UNDERAGE ?? Sounds like trouble, at least it is everytime I find out the girl I meet at a party was 14 instead of 18.

actually, "under age" - we just decided to join the two words to make it easier.
but yes, trouble - we end up banning a lot of immature people, cause it makes the site look shit.
