Default This hearts

Well my forum started Admin of the month. Of course you would expect the owner or the head admin to win the very first time..

But this is different. I am loosing. I mean I could take a loose its just what I am loosing to. I have 4 votes, and the other admin has...10 votes.

It just kinda hearts that I am not winning, I am more suprise then anything.

Alot of people are saying "I thought he was the owner". Why!?

It just makes me feel like de-moting him, but that would not be fair of course, since its a sill competition.

Its just a little disapointing on my part

EDIT: I sound dorky, eh?

I think your avatar is a perfect example of how you feel right now.

you shouldn't act like that, infact you should be happy to get to see and hear what your members/visitors really think about your site and the way it is ran. Seeing this alone proves that you are either not active enough in your forums as much as the other admin or that you have not made a good post/reply to a thread. Other possibility could be that the other admin may write better and a bit more formal than you, and he may sound older than you therefore people might just assume that he/she is the owner.

My advice to you, be more active, make sure you start most of the major news and announcement posts, that way people will get a better idea of who is who.

At the same time, you should be happy that you have another admin in your forums who has worked probably just as hard as you to keep the site active and has spent time on the boards.

Again, don't be dissapointed, this can be improved over time

Do you tend to work in the back? If the members don't see you they assume you're not doing anything.

Thing is the stuff on the back (managing the staff, fixing code, adding things to the site, etc etc) tend to go un-noticed. But they have to be done, and most of the time I'm happy they don't know I'm the one dealing with it anyway.

At any rate this is just a popularity contest, and they always hurt someone in the end. I wouldn't worry about it..

You can always threaten them that you'll shut the site down if they don't vote for you On a more serious note...

The average user does not know how much work is put into the back-end as a webmaster/admin. People figure that you just buy a website and everything is there and can be controlled by a simple switch. The more you learn about the internet, the more amused you get as to the work that is put behind it. In the end, just be happy your users are enjoying the place in which you have made for them and enjoy it with them. Show them you care and have fun with them. They'll never vote for someone they don't have fun with or feel comfortable around!

Actually. I am on the forum all day, and most of the night. Working on modifying it.

I also just opened another forum breaking my back to get members (its very very inactive)

And Brad is correct it is one popularity contest. And I am fairly active on the board.

Oh well if I loose I will ban the people, jk :P

Thanks,

-Corn dog

You feel like de-moting me???

I've told you before and I'll tell you again; only new members would think that and that's only because I'm the most active poster on the forum. Any experienced member would know your the owner just because of your usertitle, and the fact that alot of your posts are about coding and none of mine are.

You do the coding, and I'll do the spamming, err helping!

Busted.

Remember too that alot the times, the members have fun seeing an underdog (in this case community Administrator versus website Administrator) win and knowing they voted for the outcome. I'll bet if you tossed some moderators in there, they'd do even better. It's all just in fun anyway, right? Demoting him? Seems you're taking this a bit personal. If you want attention, don't expect it to be given. Post amongst your users and whatnot. I'm sure this doesn't mean anyone doesn't like you. As others have stated, alot of the backend stuff is unnoticeable and sometimes even unknown to the average internet or forum user. And as others have said too, alot of website Administrators would be thrilled to have a community Administrator that compares up to them.

I think everyone took is "de-moting" statement a little to literal. I'm sure he was just kidding

*hurts

Like the others have said, be more active. Being a Tech Admin doesn't exemplify you from posting as a normal member in any way. Post a little more, get into discussion, and there will be no need to get mad over this kind of thing happening. It IS a popularity count, definitely.
