Hey all, this is kind of a general question about Hosting. Nothing really to do with Vbulletin per say, but thought this would be a good place to ask as there are a ton of pro's here.
I recently purchased a Re-Seller package from a Hosting Company, Installed my Vbulletin, migrated my database etc. When I logged into FTP, inside my /public_html/forums directory I seen a bunch of "core" files, some were 0 meg, some were/are about 3 to 9 megs. Of course I knew something wasnt right, as I have had numerous hosting accounts, so, I installed ubbthreads on another account that I am Re-selling to, Logged into FTP and what do you know, there were them "core" files, they were also varying in size. So, I contacted support, and their reply was it must be my scripts causing errors, and that the "core" files were files that reside on the server for the admins to basically figure out and debug the problem. They told me to update my scripts and that should solve the problem. So I did, I was already updated on most, but I double checked to make sure. That did not solve the problem, so I replied to support with the bad news. I decided to test something out, I went to my hosting CP, clicked the fantastico link, and installed phpbb2 from the CP residing on their server. Logged into FTP, and what do you know, there were them annoying little "core" files again, also varying in size. I replied to support with my findings, and they told me I should post a message in the phpbb forums and ask if someone knew what this could be and how I can fix this. I replied that I would definately do this, but would post in the Vbulletin Forums, cause there are professionals here and I should be able to get and answer. So after all my rambling on, does ANYBODY HAVE A CLUE? Thank You, Mark |

I've got the same issue, but I have no idea what's causing it.

I have the same issue too... Anyone know why?
A bit more background on the problem I have a load of files in the forum root directory & the website root dir (not the same) in the format: core.XXXX where the Xs represent a number. Each file varies in size between 12 and 14 meg. They were created in quick succession on the 30th May (don't know anything special about that day), over the course of a couple of mins. Like so: Quote:
Might just move the files to simulate a delete, but thought i'd ask first in case it brings my forum down to a crashing halt. |
