I have images disabled in signatures on my forum because I think it sucks in many ways.
I have an idea for a hack that has better image signature support but don't have the time to implement it myself.
So here's the list of ideas:
- Hosted images like avatars
- Ability to set size restrictions (dimension and file size)
- Ability for users to explicitly turn it images (in the usercp)
- different modes for signatures (set by forum administrator): 1) old bevahior; 2) either hosted image or old behavior; 3) image + old
