How to get navbar info to show in showthread.

Just got a new template and I would like to have the navabr info to show in showthread and also in forum display. Here's what I'm trying to add in the red:

By any chance in the showthread and FORUM_DISPLAY templates do you have $navbar, generally located just under $header? Or did the new template's author just rewrote your navbar and header templates?

Yea, the $navbar is in showthread:

$header
$navbar

I actually had to edit the navbar template for a hack I installed.
