I want to modify my "list of forums" fom one column to X amount of columns

I am looking to modify the look of the home page of my forum

I want to change the "list of forums" on the home page from one column to lets say three. Is there a hack that can enable such a change?

For Example:

Category A Category B Category C
Forum 1 Forum 4 Forum 7
Forum 2 Forum 5 Forum 8
Forum 3 Forum 6 Forum 9
