Someone Edited My Signature?

Hello,
I recently noticed that someone has edited my signature with this note:

Links removed by staff:

-- I may have came off a bit strong. Therefore, i deleted this part. My purpose of writing this was just to ask if you guys can send a notification prior to removing one's signature and such. God knows how long i've been going around with a signature that sais "Links removed by staff".

Correct me if I'm wrong: If you're giving a link directly to the install button then doesn't that mean that clickers will say they've installed the hack before they've even read what it's about? If so, there doesn't need to be a site rule, it's just a common sense thing.

I agree with Bairy. People should CHOOSE to click that install button - not be tricked into it.

Why do people need rules to explain the obvious? Just because there isn't a rule against it doesn't mean it's "right". Use common sense.

The installation feature is for when you install a hack, not when you click on a link in a signature to view it. Anyone with common sense should be able to see there is a difference between the two.

Ok, he's fifteen years old people. Lessons in life come from mentoring not slapping someone around. Yes what he did is obviously wrong to those that have learned these lessons in life. But to a fifteen year old young man, no matter how talented at coding, it's a big world out there to explore and poke about in.

IMO, this was handled wrong. It was handled as if he was a known trouble maker. He should have been explained the rules privately and asked to remove it on his own. Instead, he was publicly humiliated and this is wrong anywhere, anytime.

Actually, he chose to post this thread - had he just given himself a new signature and moved on, 99% of the site would have been completely unaware.

Everyone saw this long before he made this post. And long before he even realized it was there.

This is a huge board. We are all admins ourselves. We better than anyone should understand the time it takes to deal with this kind of stuff. Editing the signature with an explaination as to why seems reasonable to me. It educates others in the process too.

It was also very professionally worded - not scolding.

Nothing to see here - move on IMHO.
