I want side bar on the forum index page, like here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/index.php left side bar

with PM box and ad place...anyone?

Have a look at Right Column on Every Page by amykhar and Vertical Site Navigation by myself. If modified to your needs and used in conjuction with each other, this should help.

Use the sidebar hack and just edit the forumhome template, this is what I did.

Sorted it anyway with the other mod. Why hack a mod when there is another one that does what you want it to do anyway?
