Why do I have to give my phone number and my address?
Vbulletin wouldn't send me a letter or ring me up would they because I wouldn't want them to. |

if your account is locked or hacked, they would ring you up or you would ring them up and they would compare the info you give them/use i think.
Basically for security of your account

They have never rang me in the 4 years I have been a customer - I doubt they would ring you for any other reason than to confirm you are who you say you are...

Just to confirm, we hardly ever ring our customers. We don't verify purchases by calling to the number you enter.

Customer information is used for verification. I don't know many *actual* businesses that do not require such when selling a product to a person or another business.
When purchasing a hosting account, you're required to provide the same basic information, this is really no different, except you are purchasing software. |
