Ok, I've been running like version 1.08 .. heh. I just upgraded. Now there are so many options and all of them are dependent on user group. I don't use just standard user groups (members are promoted or demoted based on activity) so how do I add ALL the options to a different user group? (ie not "standard user" but instead my "Registered Pricks" .. heh)

Is there a way to do it enmass? Do I need to change those values at all? Before I try going from item to item I figured it was better for me to just ask this question than to waste my time

Oh.. also to just really clarify things (while I have your attention) how is the lottery figured out? what are the odds of winning? Is it just a random picking of tickets? (so if 2 people buy 5 tickets each then they each have a 50/50 change of winning? If 10 people buy 1 ticket 10% chance each to win? or is it more like a lottery where it picks numbers and so on? I just want to make sure that I value the winnings appropriately.

Well, for 1, let me just start by saying since that version the Category Permissions are the MAIN permissions now.

The category permissions are filtered down thru all options now.

So if you set a category's permissions, it will in effect set it for all items in the category. Each item has "Additional Usergroups" that you can modify as well as completely override the category permissions.

The lottery just counts the number of tickets for the lottery that is 'expiring', and then uses php's rand() function to choose a random number from 0 to the number and that is the winner. So its percentage is based on how many tickets are purchased, if 1 users purchases 10 tickets and there are 20 tickets sold at the time it expires, he has a 50/50 chance to win the lottery.

I hope this helps.

Actually a mass usergroup setting would be useful for thos things set in the usergroup manager eg

Can this group view entries from the Lottery Winners?
Can this group view changes made to member's Username?
Can this group delete entries from the Item History?
Can this group delete entries from the Lottery Winners?

etc

These can only be set in the usergroup manager which is not a problem if you only have a few usergroups but I have 35 groups and so it can be a bit of a pain. I currently get round it by using queries to set the options I want the same for all groups but a mass usergroup settings like the mass forum settings would make life easier.

I had a user change their username. Their posts and private messages all show the new name, but the official name in the adminCP is still the old one, also they need to put that name in to log in (old one, not the new one). what do I say?

What do u mean the official name in the adminCP is still the old one?

Show me a screen shot of where the error is so I can better spot what else needs changing.

Well.. I tried to duplicate it myself and got database errors (but didn't mail the error to me which is odd)

Attachment #1 is the first post in the thread
#2 is what the thread looks like. The name in #1 is the old original name m4nic_nin3.14, the name in #2 is what it's supposed to be.
#3 is the adminCP view of the user showing that it never registered as a purchase
#4 is my test account (original name lordnex, changed to boogers) sending a gift and the PM that was sent.
#5 is the error that's being shown to me. no database emails are being made

Now I *am* still using VB 3.5.1 .. would that have anything to do with it?

anyways.. ideas?
