LocalApple.com
A friend of mine and I just started a new forum all about New York City living. Would love feedback and if anyone could help us out getting the ball rolling with the first couple of posts.
Thanks guys!! http://www.localapple.com - Dani |

I'm not really fond of the style. I think its the scheme - the colours match and all but I think they're in the wrong places.

Thanks for the feedback. The style was put up a bit hastily I guess ... I know what you mean. It is an ad-hoc version of the vBulletin ACP css.

the logo needs some work ...
-- it's dark -- not the proper colors to convey "living" about the style -- it's the default style --not much to say -- again, not the proper set of colors to convey "living" -- watch the background image on categories ... it's repeating; thus, making it hard to read the text -- decrease or remove table borders I'm guessing you just wanted to give "exposure" to the name; because, I just can't believe this is YOUR finished product. I've seen better work from you. |

It was put up start to finish in about three hours (and that includes first buying web hosting and vBulletin), so yeah, not a lot of work at all spent on the style or design. I'm really just trying to help out a friend who wanted to get started with his own forum, so I wanted to introduce him to vBulletin. DaniWeb is still my baby!
In all honesty though, I'm really fond of stock vBulletin's with just CSS alterations. I think that look is just soooo simplistic and easy to use. Compared to my www.daniweb.com with it's 160+ forums and subforums three levels deep, where no one ever seems to know where to post. About two years ago I set up http://www.mod-rewrite.com/forum/ meant to imitate the old version of Mozilla.com. The entire design took a matter of 15 minutes because it was all CSS changes only and I think it came out rather non-stock vB looking. You're right though I'm really just trying to get some exposure and also some ideas or suggestions for the site. What do you think of the forum structure? Like I said - simple is best in my eyes! I'm too desensitized to DaniWeb. |

I like your color scheme the only thing I can see that could make your page look better would be to get a lighter colored top logo or otherwise make your color scheme a bit darker to match the logo. Either way one of the 2 should change, other than that great job

Woah the colours are far to saturated! Unless the site is aimed at pre-schoolers, who are less sensitive to colours, it's just going to *annoy* older brains. Try using pastel blues if you want to use blue.
Also the logo is lame - but you knew that right? and the gradient in the bar just looks cheap. Sorry for being harsh. Tell it like it is. |

Yes, I know the entire style is ... well ... just is. More concerned with feedback as to the subject matter. Now is probably the time when I can point you to my true baby (www.daniweb.com) to give myself a little ego boost. No worries!
