Been on vbulletin a year an never had to post a question so excuseme while I look sheepish...

This may be really obvious b ut is there a way to make it so if you buy a subscription it changes your primary usergroup but makes what was your primary usergroup a secondary usergroup?

Example if a moderator buys "VIP" features they loose their mod rights unless I do it manually..

Any simple solutions that will make me feel like reaching for the peroxide?

So people can buy vip, which changes their username colour, the forums they can see, but if staff members (who can see staff forums) buy vip they can see vip forums and their username changes colour but without loosing staff permissions.

Now I have ANOTHER problem, trying to work out why the hell my user ranks wont show up in the postbit. Im using legacy and this is my legacy code, it includes a few hacks so im not sure.. what.. ive done lol. Am i missing any code that means its not showing the user rank images.

The easiest way to solve your first problem is to add your VIP users as a secondary usergroup to regular users and mods. Solves all of that and since a yes overrides a no in the permissions systems, you shouldn't have to change anything because of it.

Too tired to look at the other part. =p

Except then their names dont change colour ?

Make sure the primary usergroup is set up so that secondary usergroups can over ride the markup info.

And to do that i just click

Can override primary group title/markup

and

Allow Users to have Member Groups (Sets whether or not permissions from the user's member (secondary) user group memberships are inherited or not)

Markup of a Seconday usergroup never overrides the primary usergroup i think. If you would have multiple secondary usergroups, there would be no way of telling which one to use.
