Without specifically calling out my host, what is your server load averages for those of you on shared hosting?

My host has dual cpu's and on average the load is 3.5 - 4. It's not abnormal to see it around 7- 8 for 5 -6 hours a day and I have seen it as high as 11. My site is actually a very private family site and has no more than 3 users on it at a given time. When I contact my host, they respond at midnight when the server load is back down to 3, I have attaced screenshots of the the 11, but apparently they don't care about that.

Is this somewhat normal? I have been having alot of problems with them lately. I did a ton of work to my site one night to wake up and found that they had a "router" problem and because of it they had to restore my database to a previous backup.

I am really considering switching hosts and I want to start up a couple more sites as well. I am considering a vps server, but want to find out if anybody with shared host has better experiences.

My server load is hardly over 3. Sounds like they are cheap and trying to maximize profit.....Ditch them.
