Add a field to profile: edit options

Can someone point me in the direction to add a field to the userprofile->edit options?

I want to add a field to allow users with over x posts to set a new custom preference.

link administrator/profilefield.php?do=modify

replace administrator with admincp or your admincp folder name

"edit options" - i want it to install with the plugin.
