How do I use phpMyAdmin ??

I been told to run queries but dont know how to install or how to use phpMyAdmin..

when I get the zipped file, and extract it, do I gotta put all those files on the ftp and in a specific folder?
and then how do I install it or do I just open up a browser and go to it on my site?

anyone know ?!
