Style Dropdown Selection

Can anyone make a hack that makes style selections from the dropdown permanent like 'edit options' does?

To help narrow it down a bit, i determined that the code that controls dropdown is in 'global.php' (do a search for '$quickchooserbits'). The code that controls style changing is in 'profile.php'. I have no idea how to modify the style dropdown to make the changes permanent.
