Yet another SEO-Thread, but hopefully, the final one!
I spent two days now (not 2 x 24hours, though ) reading through the threads and ... well ... i still would be happy about a final sentence, which hacks/modification are recommended.
The list below are the hacks I found on vb.org and in addition i found the <hx>-tags and specialized meta-tags for each forum/thread on the vbwebmaster-board. vRewrite - SEOed URLs for vBulletin DC SEO vB URL Rewrite Add Search Engine Optimized (SEO) Keywords & Description to each Forum Google sitemap for the vB Archives. Redirect human and robots. vB Easy Archive - Search Engine Spiderable Hack! vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator for vBulletin 3.5.x & vBulletin 3.0.x vBSEO Conditional Signatures - Search Engine Optimization Plugin I installed so far the both mentioned mods of the vbw-board and the Sitemapgenerator listed together with the condSig-Hack above. What comes now is the rewrite and archive issue, i think ... basicly i liked the idea of spiders beeing redirected to the archive, while users who click on that result are taken to the board again ... this combined with the easyArchive could be great in my imaginations together with a generated sitemap, which lists only the archivepages to crawl (or the profiles, too??!). Okay, this text is a bit confused, which may be because my native language is german, but i think it is because I AM confused Hopefully anybody can give my brain a light on this issue ... and maybe this can be a thread where anybody can finally a final solution, if there is one. |

So if the user is in the archive and they click a post they are taken to the actual post on the normal boards, however if a spider clicks on a post they continue to the archived version?

that's what i thought that hack above to be, indeed. Though i am thinking, the spiders are redirected to the archive whenever they try to rach any normal board url and therefore show only the archive links in the results. But as users are redirectd to normal board whenever they're trying to open an archive URL they are rediredted to the board when they click on such a result ... |

I have a question. Do you know a mod that rewrites the archive in the actual topic names itself, instead of t-#####.html

It isn't a good thing to redirect search spiders automatically. It's just like giving them another forum style (a more semantic, ... one). They see it as 'cheating', so giving a search spider isn't a good idea if you don't want to get banned out of Google
@lightwave: have a look at your topic |
