Whats the point of the install button on hacks/mods
Whats the point of the install button on hacks/mods? It doesn't seem to install anything.

To show that you have installed it.
It REALLY should be called "Installed", not "Install". |

It will also be useful when the author updates the hack, you will then be automatically notified via email.

In addition to keeping a record of what you installed in your user CP for future reference, it lets the author know that you appreciate his hard work enough to take the time to click the install button.
I have one hack released with only 4 installs, one of them my own, and all three times I've seen that number go up, it's made my day. I can't speak for any other coders on here, but it's very rewarding to know that someone else took the time to use your modification. My .2c. Always click install if you're using the mod. |

This is the first I knew that clicking the install button keeps track of installed hacks in my userCP... very nice!

Offcourse it's nice for a coder to see if his hack gets appreciated. That's why I allways click Install when I use a hack.
Another benefit is that in the "Quick Links" menu on top of every vB page, there is a option to search the hacks you installed ("Show Installed Hacks"). Works the same as the option in your UserCP |
