Anyone know a clean and simple way to go about creating a new user profile field which allows someone to enter a date??? Is there a hack out there already? Anyone done this before?

I am also interested in this? Ideally I want the custom profile field to automatically population with the date. I will have this hidden so the user doesn't see it. Then when the profile page that has this "date field" is updated the date will be put into this custom profile column within the database.
