Default What is the big difference between 3.0 and 3.5?

I have 3.0.8. and am considering going to 3.5. Can anyone give me some of the upgrades? What is the major differences for the members and for the admin? For those who have upgraded, do you see a major difference?

My biggest concern is loosing all of my major hacks and going through the pain of upgrading them as well.

Mike

Hell yes, the plugin system is great and the biggest improvement ever. Makes it easy to add hacks and disable or remove them if you need to...

Get a list of all your current hacks and see if they have been released for vB 3.5.x (with upgrade instructions) - if they are all upgraded... plugging them back into 3.5.x is simple.

One thing I have learned using vBulletin... keep a detailed list of what changes you have made so you can keep the software current. Once you start tearing it up without records and fallin' behind - your stuck with an ol' forum with an ol' interface and known security issues/problems...

I know it sucks to have a lot of custom work done and them vB come out with all new files to upload... I had this constant upgrade problem with 2.x.

Upgrading wasn't fun, solely because I had had a heavily hacked board. Lost some of my favorite hacks in the upgrade (Ucash/Ushop, and the AWS warning system), but, overall, the upgrade went smoothly and flawlessly. Adding new hacks is much easier, with virtually no file edits. it's an amazing system that they put together. And working with the new hacks is incredibly easy.

It's not fun, but it's most definitely worth it.

Not if you upgrade from a 3.0x version that had AWS on it. Many of us have had some serious issues with it, especially having the hooks prevent one from logging into the admin cp. Better look at that AWS thread.
